OUWVAL

OUWVAL is the stage name of German recording artist, singer, rapper and producer Florian Markus Holland. His sound blends electronic hip-hop with touches of classical instrumentation. His melodies and introspective lyrics dive deep into themes like depression, toxic relationships, and the hidden darkness many face. Originally from near Munich, he’s been shaping his artistic identity since childhood, culminating in his solo releases under the label Old & New Monte Carlo.

My collaboration with OUWVAL has always centered on capturing the raw intensity that drives his music. Through multiple portrait photography and music videos, we’ve explored the vulnerability and defiance in his persona.

For the final release of his album "Why do u eat so much sugar?", I created the visualizer "Bye Bye Sugarland". Conceived and directed by me, it serves as a farewell to OUWVAL’s former self and a closing chapter to the album’s era. I handled the animation and editing, while the 3D sculpting and characters were crafted by my dear friend Tony Ngo. The final piece channels the album’s urgency, distortion, and emotional chaos into moving images that mirror his artistic evolution.

With OUWVAL’s sound pushing boundaries, my goal wasn’t to decorate the music, but to extend it: to create a visual space where OUWVAL’s sound can breathe louder, sharper, and stranger.
